News > Rees for Congress reports over $50,000 cash on hand

(West Des Moines) – The Mark Rees for Congress campaign kicks off 2010 with $52,500 in the bank according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission today.

The first-time candidate for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District made a substantial commitment to his campaign with personal contributions in excess of $50,000.

I decided before my campaign began any fundraising activities, before I asked anyone to contribute, I wanted potential donors to know just how seriously I take this campaign,” Rees said.  “I believe in myself and my message. I truly believe that collectively as individuals, we can make a difference, and I believe that I am the only, electable Republican candidate that can unseat the seven term incumbent, Leonard Boswell.

Rees and his wife, Beth, are both graduates of Valley High School in West Des Moines and Iowa State University. They have lived in the district their entire lives where they have worked, raised their families, and have been actively involved in numerous community groups and service organizations.
